SLT Classes do not meet when Springfield Public Schools are out of session.

SESSION I:  September 13-October 21                                                       
SESSION II:  November 1-December 9 (Classes will not be held Wednesday, November 24 or Thursday, November 25.  Wednesday and Thursday classes will meet December 15 and 16 to make up the Thanksgiving holiday.)
SESSION III:   January 10-February 17 (Monday classes will not meet January 17 or February 21, as Springfield Public Schools are scheduled to be out.  The last Monday class will be held Monday, February 28.)
SESSION IV:  March 7-April 21 (Classes will not meet the week of Springfield Public School’s Spring Break, March 21-25.)
SESSION V:  April 25-June 2 (Monday classes will not meet Memorial Day, Monday, May 30.  Monday classes will meet December 6 to make up Memorial Day.) 

TUITION:
$50 for one six-week session of classes
$90 for two courses in a six-week session of classes
$120 for three courses in a six-week session of classes
$150 for four courses in a six-week session of classes

THE PLAYGROUND
Acting Class for Ages 4-5
An exciting exploration of “play acting” for the very young child.  This class encourages your child to have confidence in his or her ideas and abilities, develop concentration skills, and learn to work with others.

STORY EXPLORERS
Acting Class for Ages 6-8
A creative introduction to theatre.  Through the use of classic stories and improvisation, your child will learn the basic skills needed to better express his or herself on stage and off.

ACTING II-A
A second level acting class for Ages 6-8
An acting class designed for the confident youngster who has completed introductory classes and/or workshops.

ACTING BASICS
Acting for Ages 9-12
Always wanted to be an actor, but didn’t know where to start?  Come “play” with us in Acting Basics.  This class focuses on fun and creativity through theatre games and dramatic story-building.  Group interaction and cooperation in playing a scene will be emphasized.

ACTING II-B
A second level acting class for Ages 9-12
Designed for the student who has mastered basic acting skills through classes and/or stage experience.  This class will challenge its students to create and sustain a believable character while working with a text.  Take the next step towards your acting career!

ACT/TEEN
Acting for Teens
This class is designed for committed young adults who are interested in advancing their acting skills.  ACT/TEEN is a terrific, engaging class where students are challenged with monologues, scene work, and improvisation.

ADULT ACTING
Acting for Ages 18 and up
For the adult who has an urge to experience the practice of theatre in a supportive setting, this is the class for you!  Students will tackle scripts, do improvisation, enjoy good company, and have a fantastic time!

ADULT ACTING II
A second level acting class for Ages 18 and up
For the experienced adult student who desires to continue to stretch their acting muscles!

THE MONOLOGUE
Ages 12-18
Teenagers who are considering auditioning for college theatre programs will be asked to prepare a monologue.  Don’t find yourself unequipped to show your very best!  There is SO much to learn in this class!  How to find a monologue, the do’s and don’ts of selection and presentation, dissecting a monologue, rehearsing a monologue (there are a hundred ways!), presenting a monologue, etc. etc. etc.  Take it to the next level!

DANCE CLASSES

CREATIVE MOVEMENT for Ages 3-5
This class is designed for the youngest performer.  Students will enjoy learning basic dance moves and terminology in ballet, jazz, and tap while in a fun and positive environment.  This a great way for beginners to learn discipline and basics in preparation for future classes in both dance and theatre.

Back by popular demand, this class is high energy, fun-spirited and a terrific workout!  GOTTA DANCE features warm-ups, floor work, and musical theatre repertory.

Tap your troubles away!  Offered due to popular request, this class serves as a great introduction to tap for the musical theatre lover or as a refresher course for the intermediate student.  Bring your shoes and be ready to have some fun!

SPRINGFIELD BALLET CLASSES
The Springfield Ballet classes at the Landers Theatre will be taught by Leigh Ellen Donlan.  Leigh is from Long Beach California where she began dance training at the age of three.  She spent 12 years at Los Altos Dance Center where she was a principal dancer and, later, a teacher.  Classically trained in Russian technique, Leigh has danced professionally since the age of 20 and began teaching ballet at 16.  In addition to classical ballet, she has studied and taught a variety of other dance techniques including modern, African, Middle Eastern, and Renaissance.  Leigh trained under such teachers as Marilyn Drown of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Arlene Brackett of the Boston Ballet, and Sheree King of the Rudy Perez Dance Company/Twyla Tharp.  Most recently, Leigh danced professionally with the Alexandria Ballet from 2002-2005.  She became the Director of the Athenaeum School of Ballet from 2005-2007.  Displaying a passion for all art forms, Leigh became vice president of Beck Records in Hollywood in 2002 and was featured in the independent film “Little Wing.”  Leigh worked artistically with the Washington School of Ballet and the Washington Ballet from 2006-2009, where she was honored with the title of Ballet Mistress.  Leigh holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Oregon and completed the Professional Writing and Public Relations Program at Georgetown University.

A combined acting, singing, and dancing class for the very youngest students resulting in an informal musical theatre demonstration for parents and friends in the studio on the last day of class!

DANCE YOUR BOOTY OFF
A Musical Theatre Exercise Class for Adults
Inspired by the Oxygen Network television show by a similar title, this class is a guaranteed great time of fun and fitness!  An exercise class designed to get your heart rate going, this class is aerobics made fun with all of your favorite showtunes and popular dance moves from all the best, high-energy dance musicals!

***The last half of the last day of SLT Education Classes is set aside as an opportunity for students to informally share some of what they’ve learned during the six-week session.  Family and friends are invited to attend the demonstrations to enjoy the process that is theatre education.*** 

T-SHIRTS

Springfield Little Theatre ACTOR IN TRAINING T-shirts may be purchased for $15.00 at the time of registration.  All proceeds from the sale of these shirts go to the SLT scholarship fund. 

CLASS REGISTRATION INFORMATION AND POLICIES

Registration Procedure:  Pre-registration is required.  You may register by phone or mail.  To register by phone call 417-869-3869 extension 21 and ask for Lorianne or 417-869-3869 x15 and ask for Andy.  To register by mail, complete the Registration Form on the back page and mail to:  Springfield Little Theatre, 311 East Walnut, Springfield, MO 65806, Attention: Lorianne.

Payment:  Class fees must accompany registration form.  Full payment by check or credit card is required in order to secure your space in the class.

Class Confirmation:  Within one week after registration, you will receive a letter confirming your place in class.

Cancellation Policy:  We want all students enrolled in the SLT Education Program to be satisfied with their experience.  If, after attending the first day of class, you decide you no longer wish to participate, we will refund your tuition (minus a $15 registration fee).  After the second day of class, no tuition or enrollment adjustments will be made.

Cancellation by SLT:  We reserve the right to cancel class if enrollment is insufficient.  Any tuition paid will be refunded in full.

Tuition:  $50 per six-week session.  $90 for two complete courses in a six-week session.  $120 for three complete  courses in a six-week session.  $150 for four complete courses in a six-week session.

Holidays/Inclement Weather:  SLT will not hold regular education classes on days that Springfield Public Schools are out of session for a holiday or due to weather.  Make-up classes will be scheduled for the week immediately following the last week of a session if time permits in the calendar.
