STORY EXPLORERS
Acting Class for Ages 6-8
A creative introduction to theatre.  Through the use of classic stories and improvisation, your child will learn the basic skills needed to better express his or herself on stage and off.

An acting class designed for the confident youngster who has completed introductory classes and/or workshops.

ACTING BASICS
Acting for Ages 9-12
Always wanted to be an actor, but didn’t know where to start?  Come “play” with us in Acting Basics.  This class focuses on fun and creativity through theatre games and dramatic story-building.  Group interaction and cooperation in playing a scene will be emphasized.

ACTING II-B
A second level acting class for Ages 9-12
Designed for the student who has mastered basic acting skills through classes and/or stage experience.  This class will challenge its students to create and sustain a believable character while working with a text.  Take the next step in your study of acting!

ACT/TEEN
Acting for Teens
This class is designed to serve both the teenaged beginner and those committed young adults who are interested in advancing their acting skills.  ACT/TEEN is a supportive, engaging class where students at any level are met where they are, and challenged with monologues, scene work, and improvisation.

ADULT ACTING
Acting for Mature Teens/Adults
Always dreamed of acting but never knew where to start? Learn the basics of voice, movement, and character, in a no-stress, supportive environment. Nothing to prepare – practice with “cold readings” and monologues provided by instructor. This is your chance to shine!

ADULT ACTING II
A second level acting class for Mature Teens and Adults
Ready to test your acting chops? Dive into serious scene study and begin to build full-fledged characters. The course will sample a variety of acting techniques and schools of thought. Previous experience in SLT workshops or productions recommended.

OBSERVATION

The last half of the last day of a SLT Education Class is set aside as an opportunity for students to informally share some of what they’ve learned during the six-week session.  Family and friends are invited to attend the demonstrations to enjoy the process that is theatre education.  On the final day of the session, students are asked to arrive at the regular start time and parents are invited in to watch the last twenty minutes.   

 

SLT Classes will not meet when Springfield Public Schools are out of session for inclement weather.

SESSION I:  September 10, 2012-October 19, 2012                                                           
SESSION II:  October 22, 2012-November 30, 2012
Session II Classes will not be held Wednesday-Friday, November 21-23 in celebration of Thanksgiving.  Session II makeup classes will be held Wednesday, December 5-Friday, December 7.  
SESSION III:  January 7, 2013-February 15, 2013
Session III Classes will not be held Monday, January 21.  Session III Monday classes will be made up Monday, February 18.     
SESSION IV:  February 25, 2013-April 12, 2013
Session IV Classes will not be held the week of Springfield Public Schools’ Spring Break, March 11-15.
SESSION V:  April 15-May 24, 2013

TUITION:
$60 for one six-week session of classes
$110 for two courses in a six-week session of classes
$150 for three courses in a six-week session of classes
$180 for unlimited courses for one child in a six-week session of classes

 

T-SHIRTS

Springfield Little Theatre ACTOR IN TRAINING T-shirts may be purchased for $15.00 at the time of registration.  All proceeds from the sale of these shirts go to the SLT scholarship fund. 

CLASS REGISTRATION INFORMATION AND POLICIES

Registration Procedure:  Pre-registration is required.  You may register by phone or mail.  To register by phone call 417-869-3869 x21.  To register by mail, complete the Registration Form on the back page and mail to:  Springfield Little Theatre, 311 East Walnut, Springfield, MO 65806, Attention: Lorianne or FAX to 417-869-4047, Attention: Lorianne.

Enrollment Deadline:  One week prior to start of class session.

Payment:  Class fees must accompany registration form.  Full payment by check or credit card is required in order to secure your space in the class.

Class Confirmation:  Within one week after registration, you will receive a letter confirming your place in class.

Cancellation Policy:  We want all students enrolled in the SLT Education Program to be satisfied with their experience.  If, after attending the first day of class, you decide you no longer wish to participate, we will refund your tuition (minus a $15 registration fee).  After the second day of class, no tuition or enrollment adjustments will be made.

Cancellation by SLT:  We reserve the right to cancel class if enrollment is insufficient.  Any tuition paid will be refunded in full.

Tuition:  $60 per six-week session (one course).  $110 for two complete courses in a six-week session.  $150 for three complete courses in a six-week session.  $180 for unlimited courses for one child enrolled in one six-week session.

Sibling rate:  $110 total for two children in one course each.  $180 total for two children in two courses each.  $220 total for two children in three courses each.  $250 for 2 children in unlimited courses during one six-week session. 

Holidays/Inclement Weather:  SLT will not hold regular education classes on days that Springfield Public Schools are out of session due to weather.  Make-up classes will be scheduled for the week immediately following the last week of a session if time permits in the calendar.
