THE MIRACLE WORKER Wednesday, March 12, 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon $6 per ticket The Miracle Worker is a play by William Gibson based upon Helen Keller's autobiography, The Story of My Life. It tells the story of the relationship between the deaf and blind Keller and Annie Sullivan, the teacher who brought the almost feral girl into the world of education. Famed American humorist and author Mark Twain who was an admirer of both, had many years earlier dubbed Sullivan a "Miracle Worker," providing the inspiration for naming Gibson's work. THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER SLT's Annual Literature To Life Presentation Tuesday, April 1, 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. $4 per ticket The Adventures of Tom Sawyer embraces the scrapes and adventures of boyhood in St. Petersburg, Missouri. It tells of the childhood adventures of Tom and his friend Huck: racing bugs, impressing girls--particularly Becky Thatcher--with fights and stunts in the schoolyard, getting lost in a cave, and playing pirates on the Mississippi River. Twain's familiar characters and scenes are skillfully presented in this play that provides an especially good look at traditional U.S. values and Tom's attempts to circumvent them! Special ACTIVITY BOOKLETS will be available to students and teachers attending the special school performances of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL Wednesday, June 18, 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. $6 per ticket Based on the works of Dr. Seuss, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty bring to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and all the Whos of Whoville! These classic colorful tales are seamlessly brought together by Jojo, a young boy and "thinker of strange and wonderful thinks"! The score emerges as a Seussian gumbo of musical styles, ranging from Latin to pop, swing to gospel, and R&B to funk! So let your toes tap, your fingers snap, and your imagination run wild, for Seussical The Musical is great fun for everyone! Special ACTIVITY BOOKLETS will be available to students and teachers attending the special summer camp performances of Seussical The Musical.
