All troupers learn the values of accountability, discipline, teamwork, kindness, hard work, and play, attributes that will serve them in any of their future endeavors, and are instilled with a lifelong love for the arts. For the serious student who aspires to pursue a career in theatre, the SLT education program functions as a formal training ground, a springboard and a home base, as well as fostering a supportive alumni network. All ten performance troupes, in addition to performing on the Landers stage, have the opportunity to entertain at birthday parties, corporate functions, holiday parties, etc.; act as mentors at educational workshops for young children; and participate in numerous community festivals and fundraisers.
The SLT Youth Performance Troupes seek and nurture focused young performers. Auditions are held annually and each troupe group remains together for the entirety of the season. Membership in one of SLT’s youth performance troupes offers a student a stimulating, fast-paced rehearsal environment; a sense of belonging; an investment in community; discounted class sessions at SLT; internship opportunities; and college/career guidance from a caring and creative staff. The youth performance troupes are its heartbeat and ambassadors.
