This musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band – sensationally performed live by the production’s young actors every night with roof-raising energy! The mix of a live rock band on stage made up of the actors, and the orchestra pit under the stage creates a rock concert feel that is a must-see!

🎸 Chris Melton plays the lead, Dewey Finn, and is in an actual rock band! Chris is a local musician/songwriter at Missouri State University and is the lead singer in the band, Crunchy Honey.

🎸 The four lead kid actors in the show actually play their instruments live on stage! Eli Oster (Lawrence), Beck Bauer (Zack), Toviel Kima (Freddie), and Kherington Vinson (Katie), all attended extra band rehearsals to prepare for these roles.

🎸 The costumes may look familiar to you! The school uniforms that the kids wear are from Springfield Little Theatre’s 2021 production of Matilda: The Musical.
