AUDITION NOTICE: Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer

Springfield Little Theatre announces auditions for its upcoming production of RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, the third production of the 2026–2027 Mainstage Season at the historic Landers Theatre.
AUDITION WORKSHOPS
Springfield Little Theatre will offer audition workshops for performers interested in auditioning for RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER. Participation in an audition workshop is not required to audition.

WHAT TO PREPARE
Please prepare a one-minute vocal selection in a style appropriate to the production. Bring clearly marked sheet music in the correct key for the provided accompanist. Additional vocal selections, readings, or movement may be requested during auditions or callbacks.
REHEARSALS
Rehearsals begin Sunday, October 4, 2026, and will generally be held Sunday through Thursday evenings from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Minimal conflicts may be accommodated, but availability for the majority of the rehearsal process is required. All performers must be available for all technical rehearsals and performances. A complete list of conflicts must be provided at auditions.

All roles are available. Springfield Little Theatre welcomes performers of all ethnicities, identities, backgrounds, and body types to audition. Unless otherwise noted, listed ages describe the approximate age of the character and not necessarily the age of the performer.

SAM THE SNOWMAN
Character age: 40+ Vocal range: Baritone, A2–D4
The show’s warm and easygoing narrator, who guides the audience through the story with gentle humor and folksy charm.
RUDOLPH
Character age: Young reindeer (performer age flexible) Vocal range: Tenor, C3–G4
An earnest, kindhearted young reindeer born with a glowing red nose. Rudolph longs to fit in and discovers that what makes him different is what makes him extraordinary.
HERMEY
Character age: Young adult
Vocal range: Tenor, C3–G4
An elf who would rather be a dentist than build toys. Optimistic, gentle, and proud to be a misfit.
CLARICE
Character age: Young reindeer (performer age flexible)
Vocal range: Mezzo-soprano, A3–D5
A sweet and steadfast young doe who sees the best in Rudolph from the very beginning.
YUKON CORNELIUS
Character age: 30–50
Vocal range: Baritone, A2–E4
A larger-than-life prospector forever in search of silver and gold. Boisterous, fearless, and full of comic bravado.
SANTA CLAUS
Character age: 40–60
Vocal range: Baritone
The busy head of Christmastown. Santa must learn to look past appearances before the fog rolls in.
MRS. CLAUS
Character age: 40–60
Vocal range: Mezzo-soprano
Warm, practical, and devoted to keeping Santa fed and Christmas on schedule.
DONNER
Character age: 30–50
Vocal range: Baritone
Rudolph’s proud father, who wants to protect his son from a world that isn’t kind to those who are different.
MRS. DONNER
Character age: 30–50
Vocal range: Mezzo-soprano
Rudolph’s loving mother, caring and quietly courageous.
BOSS ELF
Character age: 30–50
Vocal range: Baritone or Mezzo-soprano
The exacting taskmaster of Santa’s workshop, with little patience for elves who dream of dentistry.
FIREBALL
Character age: Young reindeer (performer age flexible)
Vocal range: Tenor or Mezzo-soprano
A confident young buck and Rudolph’s first friend at the Reindeer Games.
KING MOONRACER
Character age: 30+
Vocal range: Baritone
The regal winged lion who rules the Island of Misfit Toys and searches the world for toys that need a home.
CHARLIE-IN-THE-BOX AND THE MISFIT TOYS
Character age: All ages
The endearing residents of the Island of Misfit Toys, each one wonderfully imperfect. Featured comic and character roles.
BUMBLE
Character age: Performer age flexible
The Abominable Snow Monster of the North. A non-speaking physical role with a big presence and a bigger heart.
ENSEMBLE
Character age: All ages
Elves, reindeer, snowflakes, citizens of Christmastown, and Misfit Toys. Performers of all ages are encouraged to audition.
