Alex Scranton
Director of Operations & Communications
Alex Scranton’s connection to Springfield Little Theatre began at the age of six, when he enrolled in a six-week education class at The Landers Theatre. What started as an introduction to theatre quickly became a lasting part of his life. He went on to perform in numerous SLT productions, including SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE! JR., BIG RIVER, HAIRSPRAY, and LEGALLY BLONDE, and is a proud graduate of Springfield Little Theatre’s Y.E.S. Troupe.
While performing introduced Alex to the stage, he ultimately found his passion behind the scenes in arts administration, communications, design, and the many moving pieces that help an arts organization thrive. His professional career began with Springfield Ballet before he joined Springfield Little Theatre’s staff in Marketing and Development. He later served as Director of Marketing & Promotions for Shoji Entertainments, Inc., home of THE SHOJI TABUCHI SHOW, where he also traveled throughout the United States as a member of Tabuchi’s touring production team for three seasons.
Alex’s creative work has included multimedia and projection design for numerous Springfield Little Theatre productions, as well as projects for Springfield Regional Opera, Springfield Ballet, and the Springfield Regional Arts Council. His work in marketing, media development, and design has received recognition from organizations including the Journalism Education Association and National Scholastic Press Association. He is also the recipient of a Mid-America Student Emmy Award and a Pacemaker Award, with design and media work appearing in arts and nonprofit organizations across the country.
Prior to returning to Springfield Little Theatre, Alex served as Director of Marketing and Operations for WeLoveBranson.com, helping oversee the marketing and operations of more than 100 vacation properties throughout the Branson and Table Rock Lake area.
Today, as Springfield Little Theatre’s Director of Operations & Communications, Alex works across the organization’s marketing, communications, patron services, facilities, and operations, helping connect the creative work onstage with the people, places, and systems that make it possible. For Alex, returning to SLT was more than a return to the arts—it was a return to the organization that first gave him a place to create, grow, and belong.
