Dave Loftin
Dave Loftin serves as Production Manager for Springfield Little Theatre, bringing more than five decades of professional entertainment, production, and theatrical rigging experience to the organization. An ETCP-certified Theatre Rigger, Dave divides his time between Springfield Little Theatre and Paragon 360, where he leads rigging design for projects across the country.
Dave began his career in 1968 building circus scenery for Ringling Brothers and went on to work as a rigger, scenic artist, and technical director for regional opera, concerts, ice shows, circuses, and performing arts organizations throughout the country. His career eventually brought him to the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Illinois before he relocated to the Ozarks.
In 1990, Dave became Production Manager for THE SHOJI TABUCHI SHOW in Branson, overseeing the implementation of scenery, lighting, audio, flying systems, special effects, and other production elements during a period of tremendous growth for the show. He later worked as a technical director and lead rigger with DHP Productions before joining Paragon 360 in 2002. His work there has included technical direction and rigging design for major theatrical productions, corporate events, performing arts venues, and large-scale installations nationwide.
Dave’s influence on the theatrical rigging industry extends beyond individual productions. As a member of the USITT Health and Safety Commission, he helped develop recommended guidelines and practices for theatrical rigging. In 1988, he helped establish the first Master’s Rigging Workshop, bringing together leaders in the field for advanced training that contributed to the continued development of professional rigging education and certification.
At Springfield Little Theatre, Dave brings that lifetime of knowledge to the production team, supporting the artists, technicians, volunteers, and staff who create work on the Landers stage. His expertise, commitment to safety, and decades of hands-on experience provide an invaluable resource as SLT continues to strengthen and expand its production capabilities.
