Set Construction and Backstage

Home Support Get Involved Set Construction and Backstage

Ever wonder how our elaborate sets our built? Or how the magic is created backstage? Consider volunteering with our tech crew!

Set Construction Volunteer Opportunities

If you have skills in painting or construction, or just an interest in it and are willing to jump right in to help, join our tech team in helping with set design! Volunteers are needed during the weekday for set design and construction. Ages 13 and up are preferred and opportunities for set design and tech crew may include:

  • Set painting
  • Set construction
  • Prop crew

Backstage Tech Crew Volunteer Opportunities

We are always welcoming new volunteers to work on tech crew backstage during a performance. These volunteers make sure all the set pieces are ready to be moved on and off stage, work the fly system, light board, sound board and more! No experience required…we’d love to train you! All backstage crew volunteers during the show must be available for all performances and tech/dress rehearsals.

If you are interested in volunteering for Springfield Little Theatre in a backstage or tech capacity, please contact our co-technical directors:

Chuck Rogers: or (417) 234-8480 for all set design/construction or backstage crew inquiries
Jamie Bower: or (417) 234-8539 for all lighting and sound inquiries

Ticket sales only cover 44% of our expenses. Your support makes all the difference.
