Mayor’s Tree Lighting Holiday Show
Each year, Springfield Mayor Ken McClure is honored to kick off the holiday season by officially lighting the “Mayor’s Tree” in Park Central Square. This tradition has grown tremendously over the past few years, morphing from primarily a children’s event to one which captures the attention of the entire community and draws spectators from around the region.
In recent years, the event has become an entertaining showcase of performing artists, bringing cultural institutions like Springfield Ballet, and Springfield Little Theatre, to a whole new generation of Springfieldians who may not have access to experience the joy of the arts. This year, we’re bringing the show to YOU to enjoy right in your home.

2020 Arts Leadership Ozzie Award – Jeff Hammock

Congratulations to Jeff Hammock on winning the 2020 Arts Leadership Ozzie Award, presented by the Springfield Regional Arts Council!
We are so proud to have Jeff on the Springfield Little Theatre Board of Directors, and we are so grateful for his incredible contributions to our organization!

Utilizing his extensive experience as a small business owner and invested community participant, he has provided leadership, guidance, inspiration, and support to the SLT Board as a member (6 years), chair of various committees (4 years), Vice-President, and President. Spearheading SLT’s major fundraising efforts during his tenure, he has been instrumental in making possible the recent restoration of the Landers Theatre and the acquisition of a new facility to support the operations of the education department.
“Jeff Hammock has been not only an amazing board member, board president, actor, and fundraiser, but mostly a good friend. We really couldn’t have done it without him,” says Beth Domann, Executive Director.
The honor was announced at The 2020 Ozzie Awards: The Arts Endure, A Virtual Flight of Fancy. Jeff continues to serve SLT as Immediate Past-President, and will receive special recognition at a future celebratory event.
